I made the muslin of the wedding dress I designed for my sister. I used a maroon twill acetate fabric my mother had given me a bolt of, because it was similar to fabric used in a wedding dress and plus I would never use it for anything else. I attached ribbon for the straps to the front and was prepared to pin it in the back.
The dress fit great except I couldn’t close it in the back from the empire waist to the base if the back. I believe this is do to me forgetting to add seam allowance to one of my pattern pieces.
I also had to shorten the back pieces and fix a gaping problem. Otherwise everything fit perfectly. The lace overlay looks a little weird in the picture because I didn’t attach it or finish the edges. I just needed to make sure it would fit.
Now to alter the pattern to reflect the changes I made and to start working on my sister’s wedding dress.
